چکیده

Let X1, . . . ,Xs ⊂ PN , s ≥ 1, be integral varieties. For any integers ki > 0, 1 ≤ i ≤ s, and t ≥ 0 set ~k := (k1, . . . , ks) and ~ X := (X1, . . . ,Xs). Let Sec( ~ X; t,~k) be the set of all linear t-spaces contained in a linear (k1 + · · · + ks − 1)-space spanned by k1 points of X1, k2 points of X2, . . . , ks points of Xs. Here we study some cases where Sec( ~ X ; t,~k) has the expected dimension. The case s = 1 was recently considered by Chiantini and Coppens and we follow their ideas. The two main results of the paper consider cases where each Xi is a surface, more particularly: s = 3, k1 = k2 = k3 = 1 and t = 1

Algebraic Cocycles on Normal, Quasi-Projective Varieties

Blaine Lawson and the author introduced algebraic cocycles on complex algebraic varieties in [FL-1] and established a duality theorem relating spaces of algebraic cocycles and spaces of algebraic cycles in [FL-2]. This theorem has non-trivial (and perhaps surprising) applications in several contexts. In particular, duality enables computations of “algebraic mapping spaces” consisting of algebra...

On the osculatory behaviour of higher dimensional projective varieties

Here we explore the geometry of the osculating spaces to projective varieties of arbitrary dimension. In particular, we classify varieties having very degenerate higher order osculating spaces and we determine mild conditions for the existence of inflectionary points. 5 Homological Projective Duality

We introduce a notion of Homological Projective Duality for smooth algebraic varieties in dual projective spaces, a homological extension of the classical projective duality. If algebraic varieties X and Y in dual projective spaces are Homologically Projectively Dual, then we prove that the orthogonal linear sections of X and Y admit semiorthogonal decompositions with an equivalent nontrivial c...
